Bangladeshi Adult Film Star Riya Barde Arrested for Illegal Stay in India
A Bangladeshi adult film actress, Riya Barde, also known as Arohi Barde, is among eight women arrested for illegally residing in India using forged documents, according to police sources. The women were detained in separate operations in Navi Mumbai and Ambernath, Thane district.
On Tuesday evening, a police team from the NRI police station, acting on a tip-off, raided a residence in Navi Mumbai’s Karave village. Seven women were found living in two rooms and were arrested for staying in India without valid documents. The women were reportedly working as domestic helpers.
In a separate operation, Riya Barde was arrested by the Hill Line Police in Ambernath, Thane, after authorities received information about her illegal stay using false papers. She is also being investigated for her alleged involvement in forgery and cheating cases.
According to the police, Barde had previously been questioned regarding her Indian citizenship after a complaint was filed over a year ago. The investigation revealed that she had conspired to obtain fake documents, including a birth certificate from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district and a school transfer certificate from Bangladesh, for one of her associates. These documents were used to help secure passports and educational credentials for several women.
Further scrutiny of Riya Barde’s personal documents showed inconsistencies, with her birth certificate, school leaving certificate, and passport listing three different places of birth: North 24 Parganas, Hooghly (both in West Bengal), and Achalpur in Amravati, Maharashtra.
Authorities believe a resident of Amravati was responsible for forging documents for Riya and her accomplices to facilitate their illegal stay in India. Police are continuing to search for four other suspects linked to the case.
